Projektino is a virtual house...
Projektino.com collects people and communication under one roof. It’s a big virtual house with different virtual rooms, where each room is equivalent to a working space or a project.
...the Account Owner is the owner of the virtual house...
Somebody who creates a new account with Projektino.com, becomes the house owner (Account Owner) with keys to all rooms (projects) in the house. The house owner pays monthly mortgage (chosen billing plan) and decides about each rooms purpose and who will be staying in each room.
...assistants help the house owner...
A house owner has a great many things to do, thus she can have assistants (Project Managers) who are helping her with the administration of the house and rooms. The house owner decides how many assistants should assist her in her job (number of available assistants depend on the chosen billing plan). The house owner can also run the house without any assistants, doing all the work by herself.
...a project is a virtual room in the house...
Each room in the house is a working space or a project and holds people called users, who have been invited to stay in that room.
...there is always a person responsible for a room...
The house owner or assistants determine who is going to be responsible (themselves or somebody else) for a particular room (i.e. for running a project) and what people will be allowed to stay in that room (who will be invited to a project).
...only some people have keys to the rooms in the house...
The house owner and assistants have keys to every room in the house. A person who has been assigned a Project Manager role by the Account Owner, has access to all projects. Normal people (users)are not allowed to leave that room by themselves and to enter other rooms.
...there is a billboard in each room...
Communication in a room is visible to all people in that room on a billboard called Action Timeline. Everybody can see what is going on i.e. the messages people send to each other, exchanged files and documents, assigned tasks, etc. This transparency simplifies communication in a room and and makes it easy for everybody to contribute with their input.
...some privacy in a room is possible...
It is possible to send each other private messages that can be viewed only by the sender and receiver, which grants some privacy in a room.
...there is a monitoring room in the house...
Only the house owner and her assistants have access to every room in the house and can see what is happening in every room. Considering the fact that there is quite a lot of communication in the whole house, the house owner and her assistants see what’s happening in each and every room on a monitor that in Projektino is called “Feed”. This Feed makes it easier follow, coordinate and respond to different issues.
Why Projektino?
1. Projektino kicks off a project right away, because it simplifies
project set-up. Invited users get more involved from the start, as they
become part of something that is visible and concrete.
2. Every
person in Projektino has his or her dashboard with project and contact information. This facilities communication between project
members, especially if people from different companies work on a common project. It also makes it more
fun to communicate compared to sending e-mails.
3. Each project has
its own project page and a Twitter-like Action Timeline, that shows what is happening in a project, in real time. This makes it easy to follow project progress and to find information and resources.
4. All documents and files are kept in one place and can be accessed by everyone on a project. This saves a lot of time and bandwidth, as there is no more
need for sending documents by back and forth by e-mail.
5. Thanks to the Twitter-like Action Timeline and Feed feature, a new person, who joins a project gets
quick overview of what is happening on a project. Thus, there is no more need for
long meetings and information search to get the knowledge
level of those who are on the project from start.
6. Each project member receives notifications by e-mail and can react when working in the field.
7. The “Message” feature facilitates topic discussions. Any person can comment on a message. Messages become thus project knowledge banks.
